The Clever Farmer and the Envious Neighbor | Moral story | English story | Short story | Hindi story

Once upon a time in a quaint village, there lived a hardworking and clever farmer named Ram. Ram's farm was prosperous, and his crops were always bountiful, much to the envy of his neighbor, Ramesh.

Ramesh was a lazy and jealous man who couldn't stand the sight of Ram's success. One day, unable to bear the prosperity of his neighbor any longer, Ramesh devised a wicked plan to bring Ram down.

Late one night, when the moon was hidden behind dark clouds, Ramesh stealthily sneaked into Ram's field and scattered harmful seeds amidst the healthy crop. He thought this would ruin Ram's harvest, leaving him in misery.

However, the next morning, when Ram discovered the malicious act, he didn't panic. Instead, he decided to handle the situation wisely. Ram carefully separated the good seeds from the bad ones, ensuring the harmful ones didn't affect his entire crop.

As the days passed, Ramesh eagerly waited for Ram's farm to wither away, but much to his dismay, Ram's crops continued to thrive. His hard work, along with his cleverness, had saved the day.

One day, Ramesh, filled with guilt, couldn't hold back his curiosity and approached Ram to confess his wrongdoings. He admitted to the evil act and asked for forgiveness.

Ram looked at Ramesh with a kind smile and said, "Envy and jealousy lead to darkness and destruction. Instead of trying to harm others, focus on improving yourself and your own fortunes. True success comes from hard work, determination, and genuine happiness for others."

The moral of the story: "Envy blinds us to our own potential and leads us astray. Embrace hard work and celebrate others' successes to find true prosperity and contentment."
