The Wise Farmer and the Mongoose | Moral story | English story | Short story | Hindi story

Once upon a time, in a small village nestled amidst lush green fields, there lived a wise farmer named Ram. He was known far and wide for his exceptional farming skills and kind heart. Ram was always surrounded by animals on his farm, and he treated them with love and care. Among his animal companions was a friendly mongoose named Mithu.

Mithu, the mongoose, had become Ram's closest companion after the farmer rescued him from a perilous situation when he was just a little pup. Since then, Mithu had been loyal to Ram, following him everywhere he went. They would work together in the fields, planting seeds and harvesting crops. The villagers admired their bond and often said that it was a testament to the deep connection between humans and animals.

One fine morning, as the sun began to rise, Ram set out to sow the seeds in his field, and Mithu followed him with enthusiasm. As the day progressed, the duo worked tirelessly, dropping seeds into the fertile earth. The anticipation of a bountiful harvest filled their hearts with joy.

As the hours passed, Ram noticed dark clouds gathering in the distance. He knew that a storm was approaching and decided to finish his work quickly. However, he underestimated the speed at which the storm was moving. Within minutes, the sky turned dark, and strong winds began to blow.

Realizing the urgency of the situation, Ram and Mithu hurriedly made their way back to the safety of their humble abode. But as they reached the farmhouse, a sudden realization struck Ram — he had left behind his precious farming tools in the field. Those tools were essential for the livelihood of his family, and without them, it would be impossible to sustain their farm.

Ram hesitated for a moment, unsure of what to do. But Mithu, sensing his master's distress, decided to take matters into his own paws. He darted out into the storm, determined to retrieve the tools and return them to Ram. The farmer watched anxiously from the doorway, praying for Mithu's safety.

Inside the raging storm, Mithu fought against the fierce winds and pouring rain. Finally reaching the field, he found the tools and swiftly picked them up in his mouth. Braving the elements, Mithu retraced his steps, running back towards the farmhouse.

Ram was overjoyed to see Mithu returning with the tools. He opened the door, and the mongoose rushed inside, drenched but triumphant. The farmer couldn't believe his eyes as he embraced his loyal friend.

From that day on, the bond between Ram and Mithu grew even stronger. The villagers marveled at Mithu's courage and loyalty, considering him a symbol of devotion and friendship.

One day, as the village gathered around the local temple for a community gathering, a wise sage noticed the extraordinary friendship between Ram and Mithu. He approached them with a serene smile and said, "My dear friends, your bond is truly exceptional. It shows that love and compassion know no boundaries, be it between humans or animals. Always remember, true friendship can overcome any obstacle, just like Mithu braved the storm to help Ram. Cherish this friendship and let it inspire others."

The moral of the story: "True friendship knows no bounds and can withstand any challenge."
